Our concentrates & syrups are made here in Auckland . We work with Aromatics in Takanini, using recipes developed originally in Hakanoa Street in Grey Lynn.

Q: How long do the concentrates & syrups last? How do I store them?

All Hakanoa products are pasteurised and safe to be stored at room temperature unopened . Syrups can be stored for 3 years and gingers beers for 2 years before their flavours start to fade. Best in a dark cool cupboard if you have one. All Hakanoa products are preservative-free. Our concentrates must be refrigerated after opening and used within 3 months.

Crafted slowly, the syrup begins with fresh mature ginger simmered with jusst enough sugar to induce osmosis, capturing all the beneficial elements of the ginger. The mixture steeps until it releases its full-bodied warmth, before sieving to remove coarse fibre. Bright New Zealand lemon juice adds lift and clarity, while pure Mānuka honey rounds everything with soft, floral sweetness. The result is a velvety amber syrup that’s fragrant, smooth, and deeply warming.

There are a lot of cafes that serve our Chai but don’t necessarily stock our ginger beers as well. To make it easy, we’ve created a category so you can see just the ones that have ginger beer.
