Our Spicy Chai is deep, aromatic, with a real bite. Hakanoa Spicy Chai is a handcrafted concentrate rooted in the traditional Rajasthani masala-tea heritage that founder Rebekah learned as a teenager. Every bottle holds a balance of organic black tea, freshly crushed Fiji ginger, whole spices ground just before cooking (cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, black peppercorns), a dash of organic fair-trade raw sugar, and a touch of NZ lemon juice and sultanas.
We simmer and steep these spices slowly, letting their oils and warmth slowly unfold, then combine with organic black tea and just enough sweetness so the depth of spice and ginger stays centre-stage. The result is a Spicy Chai latte that greets you with bright cardamom and cinnamon on the nose, moves through rich black-tea warmth, and finishes with a lingering gingery peppery warmth that warms you right through.
